World Sight Day Event by Essilor

The eyes is the one of the most important part of us and it is our window to the world. We should always take care of our eyes so that it guide us for a long time. Our eyes are important, always remember that.

In recent celebration of the global campaign World Sight Day, Essilor organized a series of events around the world to help more people gain access to quality eye care services.

Essilor Philippines conducted eye check-ups, vision screenings and education programs in different parts of the country including Manila, Cebu, Davao and Dagupan. Over hundreds of people, both children and adults, suffering from various visual impairments have received proper eye care services.

For this year, World Sight Day calls for “Eye Care For All”, which aims to provide universal access comprehensive eye care services for major causes of visual impairment, covering promotion, prevention, rehabilitation and care. It also gears towards ensuring that access to eye care is not limited by several factors including gender, geographic location and financial status.

“Access to quality eye care is important in achieving better eye health,” said Dr. Emelita Roleda, Essilor Philippines general manager. “Essilor is a worldwide leader in developing and manufacturing ophthalmic lenses, lens coatings and dispensary technologies for over four decades. And one of our visions is to improve the lives of people by improving their sight through quality eye care. Proper eye care prevents the occurrence of visual impairments, which if not treated might lead to blindness. This year, in anticipation of the World Sight Day’s powerful call for Universal Eye Health, our mission is to help reach out to people who are in most need of quality eye care and to give them a chance to see the world better.”

Organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), World Sight Day is an annual global campaign that draws global attention to blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired, with 2.5 billion people worldwide needing vision correction.

“By providing everyone access to proper eye care, we are taking a step further in improving not only their sight, but their lives as well, through better vision,” Dr. Roleda added.
