Energizer-OML lighting campaign wins in 48th Anvil Awards

It wasn’t that long ago when I join the campaign for One Million Lights by Energizer. The One Million Lights campaign benefited so many resident around the country and it’s a campaign that played and important role in the lives of many.  This  campaign was notice by and given the most distinguished award giving body.

The Energizer campaign that helped light up the lives of more than 15,000 Filipinos in remote provincial sites without electricity last year won the Merit Award in the recent 48th Anvil Awards organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP).

In collaboration with One Million Lights (OML) Philippines, the campaign, called “Spreading Positivenergy: Donation of Energizer Solar-powered Lights”, was recognized for its effectiveness as a publicity initiative, as it drove public awareness about the need to provide adequate and safe lighting solutions to people in off-the-grid communities.

The Energizer Solar-powered lamps, besides being more environmentally friendly, gave local residents savings of between P100 and P300 a month. These also eliminate the hazards attendant to using ineffective and unsafe fuel-based lighting alternatives such as kerosene lamps, candles, firewood, and makeshift gas lamps.

“Being recognized for our efforts by winning the Anvil Award reaffirms the value in what we do,” said Joan Mendoza, brand manager of Energizer Philippines. “We are honored and are inspired to continue in this mission to help more Filipinos benefit from the Positivenergy that we bring.”

Todd Montgomerie, Energizer Philippines managing director, acknowledged the importance of investments in society through corporate social responsibility initiatives. “The Positivenergy campaign has tremendous potential to change paradigms and improve lives,” he said. “This is an act of giving back that will bring dividends to all our stakeholders over the long term, especially including the public that we serve.”

More than 3,000 Energizer solar-powered lights were distributed in six poverty-stricken communities, namely Barangay Puray in Rodriguez, Rizal; Eastern Samar; San Miguel, Catanduanes; Mountain Province; Kalinga-Apayao; and Oriental Mindoro, which included a number of Mangyan communities. Other contributions came from the campaign’s partners and supporters.

Sharing the Anvil Merit Award is Energizer Philippines’ public relations specialist, PRC Inc.
