CHED and IBM to Develop a Comprehensive Analytics Education Master Plan for the Philippines

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and IBM today signed an agreement to collaborate on developing a comprehensive analytics education master plan for Philippine higher education institutions in order to prepare the country’s workforce for the emerging trend towards analytics.

Created as part of a broad agenda of reforms on the country’s education system, CHED is responsible for formulating plans, policies and strategies relating to higher education.  The Commission on Higher Education will cooperate with IBM to review the existing academic curriculum, and recommend courses to develop the necessary skills in the areas of analytics; identify job opportunities which will be created in key industries as a result of the application of analytics; and form a Smarter Education Consortium with membership from academe, government and industry to act as an advisory council and consultative body on next generation education policies and reforms.

The gift of health—a “must” gift idea for Christmas

Christmas time is gift giving time. I suggested that we put a lot of thought with regards to what to give. Let it be practical and lasting, for the one we are giving the gift area our love ones.

Instead of choosing the latest electronic gadget, clothes, or even a car, why not choose to give the gift of health to a family member or any loved one this Christmas?

Giving the gift of health can be in any form, like membership in a fitness center, new exercise shoes or perhaps a complete set of health supplements. But why bother with those when you can give a health juicer and all you need are either vegetables or fruits, and a little creativity and know-how in combining them to make great-tasting—and healthy—juices?

Scent of a woman: Finding the right fragrance for her

It’s Christmas time, and a lot of you are looking at gifts for your gals over in the fragrance section. If you’re like most men, though, you may find it a bit overwhelming, if not downright confusing. But fear not fragrance shoppers. If you’re reading this, you’re already on the right scent. What’s a base note? What’s the difference between musky and woody? Which of the designer names do women really like? And since when does channel number 5 make perfume? Boy, oh boy, oh boys, here we go again.

Fragrances make for fantastic Christmas gifts IF you know what you’re looking for. And, luckily for you, I’m going to tell you what that should be. First, determine your girl’s personality. From there, you can get a good idea of what kind of scents she’ll like. Second, select a specific fragrance. You can do this based on your own personal knowledge of what she likes. Or you can do this based on your budget constraints because, yes, you do have options. You may now exhale in relief.  Last, of course, you have to buy the fragrance, which means you have to know where to find it. Fortunately, I know a place that’s got it all for you- SM Department Store’s Beauty Section.

Marciano's Pizza Pasta Steak : Italian Cuisine , Classy yet Affordable

Who want pizza pasta and steak? If you’re an avid fan of this Italian cuisine, then I suggest you visit the Marciano’s Pizza Pasta Steak Resto located in Foodstreet SM Southmall which formally opened its door last Nov. 30, 2012.

Marciano’s Pizza Pasta Steak was named after the great heavyweight Italian Boxer Rocky Marciano. The big bosses of Sumosam Resto Group had gone to a two week business trip to New York to search this Italian cuisine that will suit the Filipino taste. I hope I had it right, but they had gone through 2 lunches, 4 dinners to be able to find the taste they wanted.
