Team Villar Painted Comelec Office Orange

I was at Manila yesterday and from the moment I stepped in the vicinity of Lawton, different colors welcomed me. Since I’m intrigued as to who are filing for that day, I decided to walk all the way to Comelec.

Since Monday Oct. 1,2012, Palacio de Gobernador , where Comelec held its office seems to be like a rainbow full of different color, like a beehive plucked with so many  bees , well it’s the  start for the filing of certificate of candidacy for the local and national level post.

I mention colors, because it represent the person that filing for the candidacy for the  May 13, 2013 elections. There’s red, blue and orange.

Well, the weather doesn’t want to cooperate, because rain pours so hard.  Well, as expected, the colors disappear but not the orange team. Rain or shine they waited for someone, someone whom they admire and support, for they feel that with this candidate, something will happen, a Big Change will
 happen

And the time came, with a loud hooray from the crowd, Ms. Cynthia Villar alight from her vehicle.
Ms. Cynthia Villar filed her certificate of candidacy for senatorial slot. The warmth that I felt from the crown is a testimony of what this lady in orange has accomplished.

Ms. Cynthia Villar‘s socio and civic concerns are wide and varied.   In 1992, she founded and has chaired the Villar Foundation, which has won various awards for its tree-planting program “Pagtatanim Para sa Kinabukasan”,  “Sagip Bukas” a school based movement for a drug-free Las Piñas, and “Manpower on Wheels,” a mobile livelihood program providing training in employable skills.as a very impressive background and always wants to help women especially mothers.
A staunch advocate for environmental conservation and preservation, she and Senator Villar launched the Las Pinas-Zapote River System Rehabilitation Program in 2002 which was selected by the Dubai International Award and United Nations Human Settlements Programme for Best Practice in 2006 for its outstanding contribution towards improving the living environment. Again in March 24, 2009, the program won the Oikos Global Case Writing Competition sponsored by OIKOS FOUNDATION Switzerland for the sustainable Livelihood Program developed out of river wastes. On November 14, 2009, the program won the Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice inLondon, UK.

The most recent recognition for the river rehabilitation program is the United Nations Best Water Management Practices Award in Celebration of the Water for Life Decade held in Zaragosa, Spain in March 2011.
Cynthia Villar served as chairperson of the Congressional Spouses Foundation from 1998 to 2000 and during her term built 11 regional centers for women who have fallen victim to abuse.  She served as president of the Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc., from August 2006 to December 2008, during which the Foundation raised twenty five million pesos for the rehabilitation of charity wards at the Philippine General Hospital.   She is currently the managing director of the Villar Foundation.
Furthermore, with all her achievements and awards, she still considers her family her most cherished treasure in her well-raised children as her glory: Paolo and Mark are graduates of the Wharton School of Finance- University of Pennsylvania, while only-daughter Camille is a Business Management graduate at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Paolo now is the Chief Executive Officer of their publicly – listed housing company Vista Land, while  Camille is the Chief Operating Officer of Vista Land’s upscale housing subsidiary Brittany Corporation. Mark is a member of the Philippine House of Representatives of the Lone District of Las Piñas City. They are all role models of hard work and perseverance no matter what one’s station in life may be.
