A Luxurious Taste of Summer The Launch of The Fruit Garden Tropical Collection 2012

Summer remains one of the best-loved seasons all over the world, and each of us has a favorite summer memory – a first kiss, an exotic vacation, a well-deserved break. The carefree days of youth, the gloriousness of the outdoors and the delicious brightness of the sun continue to capture the hearts of people year after year, and The Fruit Garden Luxury Jams brings this all to you this year in a beautiful glass jar. The Fruit Garden is welcoming the summer with a burst of new and fresh flavors featured in their Tropical Line, wherethe untamed joys of Filipino summer meet the sophisticated warmth of the French.

Pierre Marmonierrecalls his childhood summers in Southeast France. Pierre’s summers revolved around a cherry tree in their backyard, which in the warmer months of June and July would bring forth the sweetest fruits. Pierre would spend his summer afternoons under this tree, picking and eating cherries, and would bring some into the kitchen, where he and his mother would proceed to turn the choicest fruits into confitures.

Cherries don’t grow in the Philippines, but Pierre has succeeded in bringing his mother’s practice in the kitchen to work the same kind of magic with fruits that are our own. He has substituted the cherry tree for markets that provide quality fruits, and with the same standard of French jam-making, whips up luscious jams that are near the Filipino’s heart. Pierre left his hometown in France and his position as an executive at a tobacco company and stays in the Philippines, pursuing his passion of using fruits to create a whole new food experience.

The Fruit Garden’s Tropical Line features the Filipino staple mango in forms that it has never taken before. Mango has played a big part in Filipino meal times, in green and yellow, paired with bagoong or other fruits in season. What Pierre has done with mango, however, is to take this fruit and create a beautiful summer harmony of different kinds of sweetness. Flavors featured in the Tropical Line include mango jackfruit, mango durian, and mango guyabano. In each jar both flavors can be picked out distinctly, but at the same time both are balanced and they come together to create a whole new and unique taste. Mango is also available fresh all year round, so the quality of the fruit is always at top mark. Pierre’s quest to explore the taste of local fruits has led him to discover these different pairings that can be made and can add zest to your table. When asked how Pierre comes up with the ideas of which flavors to put together, he puts simply and honestly, “[I] just go by inspiration.”

Pierre makes sure his products are top quality at all times. Each batch of jams contains no less than 60% fruit, and absolutely no artificial additives and preservatives, so they can last anywhere between ten months to a year. Sugar is used as a natural preservative, but levels are kept at minimum to highlight the taste of the featured fruits. He makes his jams in small batches for better control and with always the perfect temperature, so that his standard is kept at an all-time high.

With The Fruit Garden’s new luxury jams, Pierre achieves his goal of bringing jam beyond the idea of breakfast. No longer is jam chained to the presence of a steaming piece of baguette, but can now be brought to the table at any time of the day. According to Pierre, the mango durian jam will lend itself easily as part of a salad dressing, perfect with fresh and crisp vegetables on a sunny summer day. Mango jackfruit jam can provide a kick to a dinner with chicken or fish. For dessert, the mango guyabano jam can add a tangy punch to pastries and cakes. The Fruit Garden’s Tropical Line goes beyond the typical berries and citrus, and shakes jam out of the breakfast mindset, allowing these fruits to brighten up any meal.

The Fruit Garden’s Tropical Line is the perfect addition to any summer event. Be it a garden wedding or an outdoor party, these beautifully packaged jams will make the experience unique.
